Chapter History

The Iowa Corridor USA Dance Chapter #2100, was formed by members of the Cedar Valley Dance Club (Chapter #2033), which at that time, served venues in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City/Coralville.  On April 20, 2013, the Cedar Valley Board of Directors unanimously agreed to form a new chapter to serve the Iowa City/Coralville area.  The initial meeting of the Iowa City Chapter Committee was held on April 28, 2013, attended by Ken Osborn (CVDC Director and Iowa City Dance Manager), Gayle Seehusen (CVDC Secretary), John Hofmeyer (CVDC Director), and Doug Hiratzka (CVDC Vice President).

Upon surpassing the minimum requirement of twenty-five members, nominations were solicited in late June.  Twelve nominations were received to fill the nine-member Board.  Elections were conducted in late July, and results were announced on July 30, 2013.  Elected to the first Board of Chapter #2100 were Barbara Croy, Doug Hiratzka, John Hofmeyer, Audrey Meyer, Dan Meyer, Ken Osborn, Mary Osborn, Gayle Seehusen, and Rebecca Steinkruger.

The first meeting of the Board was convened on August 11, 2013.  Officers were elected as follows: Ken Osborn (President), Doug Hiratzka (Vice President), Audrey Meyer (Treasurer), and Gayle Seehusen (Secretary).  The Board developed our first year operating plan and submitted it, along with the necessary documentation, with our request for certification, to the USA Dance Central Office.  On September 3, 2013, we received notification from the Central Office that our request for certification had been granted.  The official name of the Chapter is "Iowa Corridor USA Dance Chapter #2100".  We serve the Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty Corridor and surrounding areas.  At the time of certification, we are one of two Chapters in Iowa.
